Tumor necrosis factor (TNF) was originally discovered as a serum protein with necrotizing effects on certain transplantable mouse tumors in vivo and cytotoxic effects against some transformed cells in vitro. The TNF family consists of two proteins designated TNF-alpha, also called cachectin, and TNF-beta, also called lymphotoxin, which are pleiotropic cytokines that can mediate a wide variety of biological effects. TNF-beta is produced by activated lymphocytes, whereas TNF-alpha is mostly produced by activated macrophages. 5, record 5, English, - tumour%20necrosis%20factor

Phyllodes tumor. Previously known as "cystosarcoma phyllodes", this neoplasm is a bulky, fibroma-like tumor (i,e,, made up of proliferative ducts and stroma) having on cross section numerous clefts and slits creating leaflike [phyllodes] patterns of intervening tumor. Phyllodes tumors can be very large, causing breast distortion and pressure necrosis of overlying skin. These lesions can be either malignant (uncommon) or benign (common). Changes suggesting malignant potential include increased cellularity, anaplasia, high mitotic activity, and overgrowth of the stromal component. 1, record 11, English, - phyllodes%20tumor

Tumeur phyllode. 3, record 11, French, - tumeur%20phyllode
Record number: 11, Textual support number: 1 OBS

2, record 29, French, - microenvironnement%20tumoral

A number of transforming growth factors have been isolated from media conditioned by tumor cells. Two of these were purified on the basis of their synergistic actions in stimulating the growth of fibroblasts in soft agar, an assay often used as an index of cell "transformation." Since cancer cells grow in soft agar, the growth factors were first thought to be mitogens involved in tumorigenesis and were called tumor growth factors.

Desmoid tumors often appear as infiltrative, usually well-differentiated, firm overgrowths of fibrous tissue, and they are locally aggressive. The synonym "aggressive fibromatosis" describes the marked cellularity and aggressive local behaviour. This course and the tendency for recurrence make the treatment of these relatively rare fibrous tumors challenging. ... Although desmoid tumors most commonly arise from the rectus abdominis muscle in postpartum women and in scars due to abdominal surgery, they may arise in any skeletal muscle. The tumors tend to infiltrate adjacent muscle bundles, frequently entrapping them and causing their degeneration. 1, record 81, English, - desmoid%20tumor
