Inertial Stellar Compass Concept. ISC technology has artificial intelligence capabilities which will keep a spacecraft on course by providing attitude information to keep it stable and pointing accurately. It will also help the spacecraft recover from unexpected events, a temporary malfunction or power loss. To do that, the compass uses information from the camera-gyro assembly(CGA), which consists of two miniaturized devices : a star camera(or star tracker) to tell the spacecraft where it is pointing; gyroscopes to continuously monitor the spacecraft's motion. The gyroscopes also inform the control system how to keep the spacecraft stable and pointed in the right direction in case the camera is "blinded" by the Sun. The information gathered is compared with a large stellar catalog stored in the data processor assembly(DPA). Using a special algorithm the DPA determines the attitude accurately. This way the spacecraft's attitude is maintained correctly.

Rasmussen concluded, among other things, that the evolution of lifelike forms depended on symbiotic, or co-operative structures, which seemed to emerge spontaneously within the system. "I think this is a law of the universe, "says Rasmussen. "and it makes possible the jump from nonliving to living. "

A new methodology is developed which can handle, misalignment of Inertial Navigation System and scale factor, as well as bias errors of the measurement instruments used in Inertial Navigation System... It is shown that the optimization algorithm employed as well as Artificial Neural Network is quite suitable for Inertial Navigation System initialization. Prelaunch aircraft maneuvers measured by the Inertial Navigation System of the aircraft provide the necessary training data for the Neural Network for the missile navigation system that initializes the missile's inertial navigation system.

The new technology, developed by researchers from Case Western Reserve University and Athersys Inc., may eventually provide a way to cure inherited diseases by altering the cell' s genetic structure.
