Note that most grammarians now consider the conditional to be an indicative tense rather than a mood.

Simple Search

• Enter the infinitive of the verb to be conjugated in the Search field.
• To conjugate the verb, click on the small button to the right of the field. The verb will appear conjugated in all moods and tenses.

Advanced Search

The Advanced Search function allows you to search using one or more criteria (verb group, auxiliary verb, transitive verb, etc.).

To do an advanced search:

• Click on the Advanced Search button.
• Enter your verb or part of verb in the Verbe ou partie de verbe field and select one or more search criteria.
• Click on the Rechercher button at the bottom of the page. An option can be selected to limit the number of verbs displayed to 10, 50, 100 or more verbs at a time.
• Click on the verb you are looking for to see how it is conjugated.

Search Criteria

• VERBE OU PARTIE DE VERBE: This criterion allows you to obtain a list of verbs by entering either a complete verb or part of a verb. For example, if you enter the letters LO in the field and launch the search, you will obtain all the infinitive forms of verbs containing the letters LO (LOGER, COLORIER, PRÉVALOIR, PLONGER, etc).
• GROUPE VERBAL: This criterion allows you to limit the search to verbs in a particular group. The choices are the following: 1st group of verbs (3 choices offered: regular verbs ending in -er with spelling changes, regular verbs ending in -er without spelling changes and regular verbs ending in -er with or without spelling changes); 2nd group of verbs (regular verbs ending in -ir); 3rd group of verbs (irregular verbs); defective verbs (verbs with conjugated forms which are never used, such as choir, gésir).
• AUXILIAIRE VERBAL: This criterion allows you to limit the search to verbs conjugated with the verbs avoir or être. Most verbs are conjugated with the auxiliary verb avoir, while others are conjugated with être or with one or the other, depending on the grammatical context.
• VERBES PRONOMINAUX: This criterion allows you to limit the search to verbs conjugated with a reflexive personal pronoun (me, te, se, nous, vous). Most verbs don't require a reflexive personal pronoun. Verbs that do require the latter are essentially pronoun verbs. Several verbs that are usually non-pronoun verbs have a pronoun form.
• TRANSITIVITÉ ET IMPERSONNELS: This criterion allows you to limit the search to verbs that have a direct or an indirect object (transitive verbs) or no object (intransitive verbs) or an impersonal form (impersonal verb).
• ÉLISION: This criterion allows you to limit the search to verbs that start with a vowel or a mute h. These verbs require the elision (omission) of a vowel in certain subject or object personal pronouns (the pronoun JE becomes J'; the pronoun ME becomes M', etc). The verb ALLER is an exception: a vowel is omitted in certain tenses of the verb, but not in others.
• OPÉRATEUR DE RECHERCHE: AND allows you to find verbs that meet all the requested criteria, while OR allows you to find verbs meeting a single criterion. Default operator: AND.
• NOMBRE MAXIMAL DE VERBES PRÉSENTÉS: This criterion allows you to limit the number of results and to speed up the display. Default value: 10 (verbs). You can click on a verb to conjugate it. To return to the list, click on the browser button which takes you back a page.
• TRIÉ SELON: This criterion allows you to sort verbs according to the selected option: infinitive forms of verbs (NB: only verbs without reflexive pronouns), verb group or auxiliary verb. Default value: infinitive forms of verbs.
• ORDRE DU TRI: This criterion allows you to display verbs in ascending or descending order. If you choose croissant (ascending), the verbs will be displayed in alphabetical order according to their infinitive forms, from the 1st group to the 3rd group, followed by defective verbs, depending on the verb group and the auxiliary verb (avoir and être).
