Yukon, Yukon Territory, Y.T., YT

Under the Yukon Act of 2002, Yukon became the official name of Canada’s westernmost territory, formerly known as Yukon Territory.

The territorial government omits the definite article (the) before Yukon.

  • Piers was involved in politics in Yukon for almost 20 years.

Y.T., the abbreviation for Yukon Territory, is still used for Yukon, since no official abbreviation has yet been approved.

  • He was born and raised in Beaver Creek, Y.T.

The Canada Post symbol YT is also still in use.
