dispense from, dispense to, dispense with

Dispense means to distribute something, usually to someone;

  • The pharmacist dispenses medicine to anyone with a prescription.
  • Product samples are dispensed to consumers to increase brand name recognition.

Dispense from means to exempt or excuse.

  • In some countries, the clergy are dispensed from paying taxes.

Dispense with means to leave out, to skip, or to get rid of.
