hereto

To write plainly, use to this, to this agreement or to this matter instead of the legalistic hereto.

  • Legalistic: The attachments hereto reflect estimated costs of the project.
  • Plain: The attachments to this agreement reflect estimated costs of the project.

In many instances, the best solution is simply to omit the word hereto.

  • Legalistic: The parties hereto agree to assume all outstanding debts of the company.
  • Plain: The parties agree to assume all outstanding debts of the company.
