Thus, this sub-phase is completed when the Project Manager is convinced that the consultant has adequately addressed the needs of the client/owner within acceptable time, cost and quality parameters. Timken lubricant test. The Timken test determines the load at which a film of lubricant will fail and cause scoring. The test consists of a revolving test cup(race) that rubs on a stationary block. Speeds are infinitely variable, but usually run at a race speed of 800 rpm. Load is applied through a lever arrangement, at the end of which the necessary weights are gradually added automatically at a rate of 2. 3 lb/sec.
