Wheat seed often contains considerable plant material trash, and it is often pre-cleaned. A typical pre-cleaner is similar to an air-screen cleaner, except that it has only one air channel to remove light material, one top scalping screen to remove large particles and one bottom grading screen to remove small particles.

A simple pre-cleaner used in rice mills usually contains an oscillating double screen bed with an aspirator. The first screen is a scalper that lets through the grain but retains straw. The second screen retains the grains but lets through broken grains and small stones or weed seeds. The air aspirator sucks out dust and the light empty grains. Air dampers are provided and have to be adjusted to prevent the good grain from being sucked out.

Par contre, les vents de Nord-Est dans la vallée du St-Laurent pourraient être classifiés ainsi.

Dans le cas où le vent de terre s'écoule le long d'un fjord, on pourra, par définition, parler de vent de fjords, donc cela s'applique, par exemple, pour Howe Sound et Douglas Channel, tous deux en Colombie-Britannique ainsi que pour le Saguenay, au Québec, où de tels vents se produisent assez souvent dans les cas d'advection froide du nord-ouest. Par contre, on ne parlera pas de vent de fjords le long du Columbia, en Colombie-Britannique.

The US Navy's Fleet Satellite Communications System(FLTSATCOM) is a constellation of five operational satellites used by both the Navy and Air Force as well as the presidential command network. The system with a design life of five years, serves as a secure communications link between the three users. Each satellite has 23 communications channels, 10 of which are used by the Navy for communication between its land forces, ships and aircraft. The Air Force uses 12 of the channels as part of its satellite communications system for command and control of nuclear forces. One channel is reserved for US national command authorities.

FLTSATCOM systems feature a main transmitting antenna that is 11 feet in diameter and surrounded by wire mesh screen. The body itself is hexagonal and is 8 inches wide and 4 feet tall. Two improved satellites recently joined four FLTSATCOM originals in orbit to extend the operation of the system well into the 1990s. The new systems carry an experimental extra-high-frequency package as a testbed for terminals being developed for the Milstar communications system.

In the pressure type air gauge, air passes through a filter and regulator and is then divided into two channels. The air in the reference channel escapes to atmosphere through a zero setting valve. The air in the measuring channel escapes to atmosphere through the gauge head jets. The two channels are connected by an extremely accurate differential pressure meter. The master is placed over the gauging spindle and the zero setting valve is adjusted until the gauge needle indicates zero. Any deviation in the workpiece size from the master size changes the reading.

The oxidation ditch in northern climates is an indoor continuous concrete channel, usually shaped like a racetrack and located beneath the slotted floor sections of the pens. Most ditches are operated on a continuous flow basis where the ditch is kept full to the level of an overflow sluice gate. An aeration device(or devices) located within the central one third of the straight section of the ditch, adds oxygen from the air and mixes the liquid, called mixed liquor, passes over the sluice gate into a storage structure.
