This produces a snowflake lattice structure that is similar to natural snow. A measure of the climate of a growing region calculated by adding the mean temperatures for each day (minus a base temperature) over a growing season.

The oxygen sensor(also known as an O2 sensor, lambda sensor, or EGO sensor) is one of the most critical sensors on a fuel-injected engine. It resembles a spark plug and is located in the exhaust manifold between the turbo and catalytic converter. When at operating temperature it becomes a miniature battery which generates a voltage based on the differential between the oxygen content of the exhaust gas and the oxygen content of the ambient air. By this method it measures the amount of oxygen in the exhaust stream, allowing the ECM to compensate to some degree for various fuel grades, engine wear, altitude changes, usage of oxygenated fuel, and more. Another big benefit is the ability to keep emissions of carbon monoxide, oxides of nitrogen, and unburned hydrocarbons as low as possible.

Fluidized bed combustion systems use a heated bed of sand-like material suspended(fluidized) within a rising column of air to burn many types and classes of fuel. This technique results in a vast improvement in combustion efficiency of high moisture content fuels, and is adaptable to a variety of "waste type" fuels. The rotary dryer, sometimes known as a rotary kiln, is a type of industrial dryer employed to reduce or minimize the moisture content of the material it is handling by bringing it into direct contact with heated gas. The boilers are fed wood fuel from the main fuel bin located adjacent to the boiler house. The boilers are the "pile burner" type, which burn wood in a large pile on the floor of a refractory lined furnace box. Combustion efficiency with this type of boiler is generally low but pile burners are simple and therefore relatively inexpensive. Low combustion efficiency also means that emissions such as particulates and carbon monoxide are relatively high. One notable advantage to these systems is that high moisture content fuels can be burned as well as "dirty" fuels containing debris.

The batch-in-bin drying process involves using a bin as a batch dryer. A 3 to 4-foot deep layer of grain is placed in the bin and the fan and heater started. Typical drying air temperatures are 120 to 160F with airflow rates of 8 to 15 cfm/bushel. Drying begins at the floor and progresses upward. Grain at the floor of the bin becomes excessively dry while the top layer of the batch remains fairly wet. The grain is cooled in the bin after it is dried. Some batch-in-bin dryers hold the grain being dried in a layer near the roof. After the grain is dried it is dropped to the bin floor where it is cooled. As the grain is moved from the bin, the grain is mixed, and the average moisture content going into final storage should be low enough that mold growth will not be a problem.

In addition, sampling components, such as the raw exhaust transfer duct and sample lines, must be heated to prevent water condensation.
