The [freeze prevention] system is located in the aft accessory compartment and consists of a temperature control(modulating and shut-off) valve, temperature control thermostat, mufflers, and ducts. The ground operated APU is used with the left-hand pack to provide the warm air required to raise the temperature of the heat exchanger cooling air. The system taps into the APU bleed air supply duct before the check valve at the elbow under the catwalk and air is distributed by auxiliary ducts to a muffler under the flow control valve of each pack and to a single spray bar upstream of the left diverter valve. The rudder hydraulic power shutoff system controls the supply of hydraulic pressure to the rudder hydraulic power package. The system is mechanically controlled by a lever in the flight compartment. The shutoff system consists of a hydraulic shutoff valve, located in the aft accessory compartment below the right air conditioning unit, connected by a two-way cable system to a control lever on the control pedestal. Ventilating air for cooling the generator, the oil cooler, and the APU compartment is obtained from the aft accessory compartment and is ducted through a fire isolation valve into the APU enclosure.... The remainder of the ventilating air is ducted into the APU-driven cooling fan which forces the air through the APU oil cooler into the general compartment. Some of the fan air is diverted from the oil cooler into a distribution duct which directs cooling air to the APU enclosure. The compartment cooling air fan is located on the APU left side just aft of the generator. The fan is driven by the accessory drive and draws air through a flapper valve mounted on the exterior surface of the APU enclosure left side. Cooling air supplied by the fan from the aft accessory compartment is blown into the system through a bifurcated duct attached to the aft side of the fan housing. This duct diverts a portion of air through the oil cooler and allows the remainder to be used for generator and APU compartment cooling. Air for cooling the generator flows through a crossover duct attached to the blast cap on the end of the generator. Overboard Configuration : Automatic operation in the overboard configuration opens the outside supply valve and overboard exhaust valve. The supply fan draws air from the outside and forces it into the E/E compartment and cockpit for equipment cooling.
