The range of manoeuvre is very wide. Perhaps the most basic is the "kick turn". This enables a rider to do a 90 degree turn on the spot. It can be done on either a stationary or a moving board. The back foot should be right at the tail of the board with the front foot about half way along. The weight of the body is transferred entirely to the rear foot and as the board rises the body is turned through 90 degrees in the desired direction.

Canada's Walk of Fame, Toronto, Ontario is a walk of fame that acknowledges the achievements and accomplishments of successful Canadians. It consists of a series of stars imbedded in 13 designated blocks worth of sidewalks in Toronto, located in front of Roy Thomson Hall, The Princess of Wales Theatre, and The Royal Alexandra Theatre on King Street as well as Simcoe Street. The first group of members was inducted in 1998, and it has since expanded to include a young filmakers competition and there are plans for a permanent museum. There are 113 Canadians on the walk of fame, including athletes; coaches; actors, directors, writers and producers of movies, television and stage; singers, songwriters and musicians; playwrights; authors; comedians; cartoonists and supermodels. The Walk of Fame was first conceived back in 1996 when founder and current president Peter Soumalias suggested the idea of a Walk of Fame for famous Torontonians to the board of the Toronto Entertainment District Association. They rejected his idea but he went on to establish a Walk of Fame for Canadians in partnership with Bill Ballard, Dusty Cohl and Gary Slaight. In spite of a lack of funds, research and no media plan, they managed to succeed and the first class of inductees was inducted in 1998.

The Freshwater Institute in Winnipeg, Manitoba houses several programs of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO). It is a national centre of expertise in aquatic biology and freshwater and marine fisheries. How to fillet a fish... Hold the fish on the cutting board with the back of the fish toward you. Using a thin flexible knife, cut through the back of the head to the backbone and turn the blade so it's running along the backbone. Hold the fish by placing your non cutting hand over the head. Push the knife along the backbone to the tail using a sawing motion. Pull the fillet away from the body of the fish while making small careful cuts with the knife to retain as much flesh as possible. Using small strokes of the knife, remove the fillet from the rib cage, feeling, your way around the bones with the knife.

Skate Tips : Catamaran. Talk about a blast from the past, catamaraning can be a lot of fun, and it's real easy to do. All you need is a partner. What you do is you sit on your board sideways facing your partner, while your partner does the same. Position the boards so that you can both put your feet comfortably on the ends of each other's boards. Once in position, you start down a fairly mellow hill. You turn by having the person on the turning side lean back, like he's on the trapeze of a catamaran. The person on the nonturning [side] leans in to help out with the turn.

I’m posting today to ask your opinion about whether David should participate in catamaran skateboarding. What is it, you ask? Well, let me explain. There are two skateboarders set parallel to each other a couple of feet apart. Each one is equipped with a toochas pad for comfort and two handles for steering. The riders sit on the boards with their bodies facing each other, their legs resting on the other person’s deck, and both looking in the direction of travel. Turning is accomplished by one person leaning back and pulling on their handles, at the same time the other person leans forward and pushes on theirs. There are no brakes.

This project will develop techniques for quantifying and improving shallow water waves and their interaction with current.

The Offshore Engineering Basin, illustrated in Figure 1, is a reinforced concrete structure 75 m in length, 32 m wide with a wall height of 4 m. Water levels may be varied up to a depth of 3. 0 m. The entire basin, including the working area surrounding the basin, is serviced by a 5 tonne overhead crane. Waves are generated by means of a segment wave machine, of wet back design, in a fixed "L" configuration. Each segment supports a 2 m high by 0. 5 m wide wave board. These segments are grouped together in sections of four and each section is vertically adjustable to accommodate water depths from 0. 4 m to 3. 0 m. Adjustments are made via electrically powered jacks. Each segment can be operated in five modes of articulation : flapper("20 degrees), piston("400 mm) or three combinations of flapper and piston. These modes optimise segment motion for generating waves in deep, shallow and intermediate water depths, respectively.
