Subsequently, when enzyme labeled anti-human IgM is added to the reaction site, it binds to the immobilized antibodies. After washing and the addition of a chromogenic substrate and stop solution, specimens containing antibodies to CMV produce a color endpoint reaction which is measured and compared to negative and positive controls, and may be measured spectrophotometrically.

A rocket propellant consisting of a single substance, especially a liquid, capable of creating rocket thrust without the addition of a second substance.

A monopropellant is a chemical propulsion fuel which does not require a separate oxidizer. A rocket engine which is based on a monopropellant requires only one fuel line instead of a fuel and an oxidizer line. The "mono" in monopropellant means singular-a fuel that can function alone. A chemical propulsion system that combines like hydrogen and oxygen would be a bipropellant. A monopropellant burns by itself because the oxidizer is bound into the molecule itself. This makes the rocket engine lighter, less expensive, and more reliable. Monopropellant designs are typically used in control thrusters but not in actual propulsion units.

The most commonly used monopropellant is hydrazine (N2H4), a chemical which is characterized as "strongly reducing". The most common catalyst is granular alumina coated with iridium (aka. Shell-405). There is no igniter with hydrazine. Shell 405 is a spontaneous catalyst, that is, hydrazine decomposes on contact with the catalyst. The reaction is highly exothermic and produces an 1800°F (1000°C) gas that is a mixture of nitrogen, hydrogen and ammonia. Another monopropellant is hydrogen peroxide, which, when purified to 90% or higher concentration, is self-decomposing at high temperatures or when a catalyst is present.

Perfluorooctane sulphonate(PFOS)... belongs to a group of organic compounds, perfluorinated organic substances, which have the shared feature that all the hydrogen atoms, bound to the carbon chain, are exchanged for fluorine atoms. A reactive sulphonate group has been bound to one end of the carbon chain. Further chemical groups are bound to the sulphonate group so that various types of surface-active substances are formed. These substances may then in some cases be broken down to PFOS in nature. Altogether there are several hundred different compounds where PFOS forms part of the structure.

A large proportion of the PFOS produced forms part of polymers, where the final product may contain residues of fluorinated starting substances that have not or have only partially reacted. PFOS is used for surface treatment and as an impregnating agent in a number of products such as carpets, furniture, paper, textiles and leather. Other PFOS-like substances are used as surface-active substances e.g. in cleaning products.

La Grande Charte ou Magna Carta est une charte de 63 articles arrachée par le baronnage anglais au roi Jean sans Terre le 15 juin 1215 après une courte guerre civile notamment marquée par la prise de Londres, le 17 mai, par les rebelles. Les barons étaient excédés des exigences militaires et financières du roi et de ses échecs répétés en France à Bouvines et à la Roche-aux-Moines. Ce texte limite l'arbitraire royal et établit en droit l'habeas corpus qui empêche, entre autres, l'emprisonnement arbitraire. Il garantit les droits féodaux, les libertés des villes contre l'arbitraire royal et institue le contrôle de l'impôt par le Grand Conseil du Royaume. L'archevêque de Canterbury, Langton défend ardemment les barons, son nom restant le premier à avoir été apposé en qualité de témoin de la Grande Charte. Lorsque le pape excommunie les barons, Langton refuse de publier l'interdit et est suspendu par le pape.

La Carta Magna ("Gran Carta" en latín), también conocida como Magna Carta Libertatum es un documento inglés de 1215 que limitó el poder de los monarcas de Inglaterra, especialmente el del rey Juan sin Tierra, que la firmó, impidiendo así el ejercicio del poder absoluto. Fue el resultado de los desencuentros entre Juan, el Papa y los nobles ingleses sobre las prerrogativas del soberano. De acuerdo a los términos de la Carta Magna, Juan debía renunciar a ciertos derechos y respetar determinados procedimientos legales, reconociendo que la voluntad del rey estaría sujeta a la ley. Se considera a la Carta Magna como el primer capítulo de un largo proceso histórico que llevaría al surgimiento del constitucionalismo.

The Canada Memorial commemorates an extraordinary co-operation between two nations in two world wars. The contribution made by Canada was generous and unconditional. It was accepted by Great Britain on the understanding that Canada's participation, with both personnel and material, implied no degree of imperial subordination but was offered from one sovereign nation to another in testimony of long association and mutual strategic interest. Canada joined in the war effort in the full knowledge that Britain's urgent need for her help derived from a threat that did not menace her immediately but posed nevertheless a moral challenge which the nature of Canadian nationhood demanded should be confronted and outfaced. There were no means, either in 1914 or 1939, by which Britain might have bound Canada to a war effort. It was precisely because Canada nevertheless declared a combatant alongside Great Britain that her brotherhood-in-arms was so deeply appreciated and is now commemorated in the Memorial which was unvieled on June 3 1994.

Green Park, Londres. Le Mémorial du Canada commémore une extraordinaire coopération entre deux nations au cours de deux guerres mondiales. La contribution du Canada, à la fois humaine et matérielle, n'impliquait aucune subordination impériale mais était offerte d'une nation souveraine à une autre, en témoignage d'une longue association et d'un intérêt stratégique. Le Canada se joignit à l'effort de guerre en sachant parfaitement que si la Grande-Bretagne avait besoin de son aide de toute urgence, ce besoin découlait d'une menace qui ne touchait pas directement le Canada mais celle-ci représentait néanmoins pour lui un défi moral que la nature des fondements mêmes de la nation canadienne exigeait d'affronter et de braver. La Grande-Bretagne n'avait aucun moyen, que ce soit en 1914 ou en 1939, de contraindre le Canada à se joindre à l'effort de guerre. C'est précisément parce que le Canada s'est néanmoins déclaré combattant aux côtés de la Grande-Bretagne que leur fraternité dans le combat fut si profondément appréciée et est à présent commémorée avec le Mémorial, qui fut inauguré le 3 juin 1994.

As expected from the dissolution rate of the copolymer itself, anti-fouling paints formulated with various zinc acrylate copolymers were found to have erosion rates mainly dependent on function group concentration and hydrophilicity of the resin polymer ... The surface profile of the zinc acrylate anti-fouling, observed by laser microscopy, was also found to be similar to SPC AF [self-polishing anti-fouling] and smoother than other tin-free anti-fouling paints ...

Are all metal acrylate TBT [tributyltin] free SPC antifoulings the same? No. There are two types of metal acrylate antifoulings. The first type are the copper acrylate... systems. The second type are the zinc acrylate systems. Although the biocides used in these two antifouling systems are essentially the same with the predominant biocide in both systems being copper oxide, copper complexes are more tightly bound and stable in seawater than zinc complexes. In the presence of the copper oxide biocide, zinc acrylate systems(in our experience) may undergo chemical exchange reactions with the copper oxide biocide. Copper acrylate systems do not undergo this exchange. The stability, longevity and performance of the copper acrylate... systems can therefore be expected to be greater than that of typical zinc acrylate deep sea systems.

(Method using) plastic plates sensitized with antigen or antibody. Mixtures of cells are incubated on the plate and cells with receptors for the sensitizing agent bind to it. For example, cells with an antigen receptor will bind to an antigen-coated plate. The technique is often used to deplete cells of a specific subpopulation, but the bound cells can sometimes be recovered by chilling or digesting the plate with enzyme.

Although isotopes exhibit nearly identical electronic and chemical behavior, their nuclear behavior varies dramatically. Atomic nuclei consist of protons and neutrons bound together by the strong nuclear force. Because protons are positively charged, they repel each other. Neutrons, which are electrically neutral, allow some separation between the positively charged protons, reducing the electrostatic repulsion and stabilizing the nucleus. For this reason neutrons are necessary for two or more protons to be bound into a nucleus. As the number of protons increases, additional neutrons are needed to form a stable nucleus; for example, although the neutron/proton ratio of3He is 1/2, the neutron/proton ratio of238U is greater than 3/2. If too many neutrons or too few neutrons are present, the nucleus becomes unstable and subject to nuclear decay.
