Victims of neglect not more negative. In contrast, Buisman found that victims of neglect are not more negative with their offspring later in life. What she did discover was that the autonomous nervous system of these parents is more likely to be hyperreactive in a resting state and potentially stressful parenting situations. This was apparent from an increased heart rate and decreased heart rate variability. This could mean that the regulation of the autonomous nervous system is more likely to be disrupted in people who have experienced neglect in their childhood. Here too, Buisman found a link between being a victim and a perpetrator of neglect, but this appeared to be less strong than with abuse.

It is native to Great Britain, and its home range extended through northern Europe east to the Caspian Sea. Following Lethbridge and Rowe's exploits there was little to no mention of the armoured diving suit until 1838, an almost 80 year lull from Lethbridge's death in 1759.... W. H. Taylor designed the first known armoured diving suit with articulating joints in 1838. The suit was to be surface-supplied and had accordion-like joints of spring steel, reinforced and water sealed with leather. From his drawing, it seems that either Taylor had no intentions of his suit being a true atmospheric diving suit, or else had no understanding of the depth-pressure relationship. The suit appeared to exhaust directly into the surrounding water from a short hose located at the divers waist. Therefore, the interior pressure would have had to be greater than the water pressure at depth. Also, the soft cloth joints of the suit would have most likely collapsed when exposed to any considerable pressure.

Proposals for a "flat tax" raise a number of important questions that would have to be addressed in the design of such a tax. For example, a flat tax would likely be less equitable than our current tax system, which has a progressive rate structure and provisions that take into account differing individual and family circumstances. Since a flat-tax system has only one tax rate, it tends to increase taxes on lower-and middle-income earners, while cutting taxes on high-income people.

Culture-fair testing : Any intelligence test that makes use of language is likely to be culturally biased. Consequently, attempts have been made to produce language-free culture-fair tests that would be equally difficult for members of any culture. Initial efforts generally relied on pictures and nonverbal instructions, but these still tended to favor some cultures... there are tests that are self-explanatory and do not require pictures of familiar objects. One of the most widely used culture-fair tests is the Raven Progressive Matrices Test... In this test... people from cultures in which fill-in or matching exercises are more common may be more likely to do well than people from other cultures. To date [1982], no one test has been developed that is completely culture-fair.
