Line crew helpers are often called recorder helpers because much of their work involves laying the electronic equipment and wires that record sounds coming from underground.

Helpers are inexperienced people in training positions on seismic crews. After they gain skills and experience, helpers may move to other positions on a crew. Recording helpers, often called jug hustlers, assist seismic observers. In preparation for recording activities, observers may require as many as twenty or more helpers to haul cables, geophones and other recording equipment, and place and connect recording equipment.

An etching technique characterized by the control of tonal areas that produces an unlimited series of gradations from pale gray to velvety black and a pleasing granular effect.

The medium of aquatint is related to etching, but concerned with areas of tone rather than line. The plate is dusted with powdered asphalt(or resin) ;the coarseness of the grain is determined by the effects desired. The plate is then heated so that the asphalt particles adhere to the copper. The melted asphalt protects the copper when the plate is immersed in the acid bath; only the copper exposed between the asphalt deposits is bitten. The longer the biting, the darker the tonal areas will print. Areas not to be etched are protected("stopped out") with an asphalt varnish.

Plus la morsure est longue, plus les tons sont foncés à l'impression. Les parties qui doivent rester blanches sont épargnées au moyen d'un vernis de retouche.

S'il arrête sa course à l'un des poteaux, il peut se rendre au marbre lorsqu'un de ses coéquipiers frappe la balle, Cependant, cela ne vaut pas de points et le joueur prend place à la fin de la formation des frappeurs. Le frappeur peut être éliminé si un joueur de champ attrape la balle ou s'il touche le frappeur ou le poteau avec la balle. La tournée se termine une fois tous les frappeurs retirés.

MAESTRO and other spectrophotometers operate on the principle that different gases absorb different wavelengths of light, ranging from short, ultraviolet(UV) rays to long, near-infrared ones. Each gas, therefore, has its own "fingerprint" or distinct spectrum of absorption. This makes it possible to identify which gases are present from changes in the brightness of sunlight at different wavelengths between light coming directly from the Sun and light that has passed through the atmosphere on the way to the spectrophotometer. Ozone, for example, absorbs UV light and is, therefore, essential to preventing high levels of these rays from reaching the Earth's surface. As the Sun rises and sets, its rays slice through different layers of the atmosphere and out into space. MAESTRO will be equipped with more than 2000 separate detectors record the full spectrum of wavelengths emitted by direct sunlight and by sunlight travelling through these layers. These data will then be analyzed to provide precise measurements of gases and aerosol particles at different heights in the atmosphere. SCISAT-1 will orbit the Earth 15 times a day at a height of 650 kilometres, allowing MAESTRO to take measurements of 30 sunrises and sunsets every 24 hours.

Chain dimensioning also known as point-to-point dimensioning, is a method of dimensioning from one feature to the next. Each dimension is dependent upon the previous dimension or dimensions. This is a common practice, although caution should be used as the tolerance of each dimension builds on the next, which is known as tolerance buildup, or stacking.

Two plans of dimensioning are used on mechanical drawings.... One is called point-to-point or chain dimensioning; each length is dimensioned from the end of the preceding one. These dimensions are usually taken directly from the designer's sketch; however tolerances are cumulative and, rather than averaging out, usually add or subtract so that intermediate clearances may be disturbed. In the other plan, called datum dimensioning..., all dimension lines in each direction extend from a datum or reference line or plane which is usually the first machined surface.
