The action lies beneath the strings, and uses gravity as its means of return to a state of rest.

This exhibition included 77 seriagraphs and serigraphic proofs produced for the Christmas card series. Twenty-six Canadian artists contributed to the series, among them several members of the Group of Seven who had already gained international recognition, including A. Y. Jackson, Lawren Harris, and Franklin Carmichael. It was A. Y. Jackson who encouraged William E. Coutts to issue the series. Jackson saw the production of the series as a source of revenue for some of the artists who were experiencing financial difficulties and also as an opportunity to create contemporary Canadian greeting cards. The "Painters of Canada" series began at the end of the 1920s and started an on-going tradition for Hallmark Cards Canada, the successor to the William E. Coutts Company. Unfortunately, the series that at first promised to be a great success was begun during the Depression and proved to be a financial failure. Nevertheless, the series was an artistic success. This exhibition was produced by the National Archives of Canada using many of the cards donated by Hallmark Cards Canada.

The formation of the Newfoundland and Labrador Health Record Association can be credited to the initial work of the Central Newfoundland Regional Medical Records Committee established in 1977. Challenged with the purpose of discussing issues of common concern, this committee grew in size and scope to become a forum for mutual problem solving and education advancement. Initial topics discussed at the Central Newfoundland Regional Medical Records Committee include patient care plans, medical audit programs, and family profiles. From the success of these meetings, it was proposed that a provincial association be established.

Il n'existe pas d'équivalent français figé qui puisse rendre parfaitement et succinctement l'expression elliptique anglaise «low-impact whale watching». Un terme comme «observation douce», sur le modèle de «navigation douce», pourrait convenir, à condition d'éviter les risques de confusion puisque «doux» se dit de ce qui agit sans brutalité non seulement sur l'environnement, mais aussi sur l'organisme, et pourrait conférer au terme le sens d'une observation exercée dans des conditions peu exigeantes sur le plan physique, en tout confort pour les touristes par exemple. On peut aussi avoir recours à des périphrases, du type «qui ne dérange pas les baleines, qui ne porte pas atteinte aux baleines et à leur environnement naturel», «pratiquée de manière à limiter les effets néfastes sur les baleines et leur environnement», etc. Il est à noter qu'il s'agit ici de ménager les baleines elles-mêmes davantage que leur milieu naturel.

Les expressions «observation de baleines à faible impact (sur l'environnement)» ou «à effets minimums (sur l'environnement)» sont mal formées : on peut avoir l'impression que les locutions adjectivales «à faible impact» et «à effets minimums» se rapportent aux baleines et non au mode d'observation. En outre, ce sont davantage les baleines elles-mêmes plutôt que leur environnement que l'on veut ménager. Il est aussi à noter qu'un «impact» ou un «effet» (qui correspondent à l'anglais «impact») peuvent être bons ou mauvais, et qu'il est donc préférable d'y adjoindre un adjectif comme «néfaste» pour bien rendre la notion.

doux : Qui agit sans brutalité, sans effets secondaires néfastes sur le milieu considéré (environnement; organisme) et selon les voies tenues pour les plus naturelles. [P. ex. :] Technologies douces, qui ne portent pas atteinte à l'environnement, au milieu. Les énergies douces : les sources d'énergie non polluantes (vent, marées, etc.), opposées aux sources d'énergie telles que le pétrole, la fission nucléaire, etc. Médecines douces (phytothérapie, acupuncture, homéopathie, etc.).
