DEF

A person employed to tend, cultivate, or lay out a garden.

CONT

Gardeners with experience should cope with all the tasks needed to keep a garden under control – including weeding, grass cutting, strimming, pruning, planting, mulching, feeding, spraying and lawn care – and know when to do them. A top-notch gardener will be able to help you plan your garden, suggest and source plants and even mentor you, if you want to learn more. You shouldn’t expect a gardener to do the jobs that a landscaper would do, such as lay a patio, build a wall or put up a garden building.

Under normal circumstances, all patients should have an equal claim to receive the health care they need. Unfortunately, during a pandemic it will not be possible for all patients to receive intensive care due to finite resources. A triage protocol will assist in distributing the available resources fairly by triaging patients who will not benefit from treatment to noncritical care management, thereby conserving critical care resources for patients who are more likely to benefit.

An implanted port is similar to a tunneled catheter but is left entirely under the skin. Medications are injected through the skin into the catheter. Some implanted ports contain a small reservoir that can be refilled in the same way. Once filled, the reservoir slowly releases the medication into the bloodstream. An implanted port is less obvious than a tunneled catheter and requires very little daily care. It has less impact on a person's activities than a PICC [peripherally inserted central catheter] or tunneled catheter.

DEF

A structured method of documentation that allows the nurse to consider interventions and patient responses, as well as observations of the patient.

CONT

The two-page focus charting outline is most appropriate for a rehabilitation unit. Functional activities such as mobility and activities of daily living are emphasized, while the cardiovascular, respiratory, and gastrointestinal areas are grouped together under the "physical" focus heading. When used correctly, focus charting is complete, orderly, and effective. It meets professional and legal standards and the requirements of third-party payers. Utilization reviewers easily can spot progress, or lack of it, after a few days. Research and audit information can be retrieved readily using the focus headlines. The progress notes are clear and easy for other nurses and other disciplines to review. This promotes communication among the entire healthcare team and ultimately promotes continuity of care. Focus charting is efficient and effective when used by nurses to focus on patient problems and strengths.

Azides are a group of both organic and inorganic compounds containing the N3 functional group. In general, azides are reactive and toxic. In fact, inorganic azides are commonly used as preservatives in biological solutions because of the ability of the N3 group to bind tightly to cytochromes and block electron transport and ATP synthesis. All of the heavy metal azides and most, if not all, of the light metal azides are explosive under the right conditions. In the province of New Brunswick, Social Service, Educational and Mental Health agencies felt that a group of multi-agency, regionally based clinical teams would have the best chance of creating the kind of care plans that would be most acceptable to the youth and his/her family, as well as to the school and community. With these facts in mind, they developed and implemented a provincial system entitled the Youth Treatment Program(YTP). What makes automatic molding automatic is the mold. There are a number of requirements for automatic molding. The machine must be capable of consistent, repetitive action. The mold must clear itself automatically. This means that all the parts have to be ejected using a runnerless mold, or that the runner and the parts have to be ejected in a conventional mold. There may be some method for assisting in the removal of the pieces, usually in the form of a wiper mechanism, air blast, or robot. All machines used automatically must have a low-pressure closing system to prevent the machine from closing under full pressure if there is any obstruction between the dies. The machine shuts itself off and/or an alarm is sounded. Automatic molding does not necessarily eliminate the operator. Many times, an operator is present to pack the parts and perform secondary operations. Automatic molding gives a better quality piece and more rapid cycle. In automatic molding an experienced person usually attends several machines. Unless the powder feed and part removal are automated, this person takes care of those operations.
