ESA has bartered access to three NASA-provided external mounting adaptors (~ 1 m² each) on the International Space Station (ISS) for early utilisation before the mounting sites on ESA’s Columbus Orbital Facility become available in 2003. Three of the four space science instruments will be combined in the Solar Monitoring Observatory. These three complementary instruments will measure the solar spectral irradiance with unprecedented accuracy across almost the whole spectrum (17-3000 nm). This range carries 99% of the Sun’s energy emission. Apart from the contributions to solar and stellar physics, knowledge of the solar energy flux (and its variations) entering the Earth’s atmosphere is of great importance for atmospheric modelling, atmospheric chemistry and climatology. The three instruments are: SOVIM (solar variability and irradiance monitor); SOLSPEC (solar spectral irradiance measurements); SOL-ACES (auto-calibrating extreme ultraviolet and ultraviolet spectrometers). They will be mounted on the ESA-developed Course Pointing Device (CPD) with a pointing accuracy of the order of 1° to compensate for ISS motions.

Lambic is a very distinctive style of beer brewed only in the Pajottenland region of Belgium(southwest of Brussels). This feast is celebrated in the Latin Church on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday to solemnly commemorate the institution of the Holy Eucharist. The instrument in the hand of Divine Providence was St. Juliana of Mont Cornillon, in Belgium. She was born in 1193 at Retines near Liège. Orphaned at an early age, she was educated by the Augustinian nuns of Mont Cornillon. Here she in time made her religious profession and later became superioress. Intrigues of various kinds several times drove her from her convent. She died 5 April, 1258, at the House of the Cistercian nuns at Fosses, and was buried at Villiers. Juliana, from her early youth, had a great veneration for the Blessed Sacrement, and always longed for a special feast in its honour. This desire is said to have been increased by a vision of the Church under the appearance of the full moon having one dark spot, which signified the absence of such a solemnity. She made known her ideas to Robert de Thorete, then Bishop of Liège, to the learned Dominican Hugh, later cardinal legate in the Netherlands, and to Jacques Pantaléon, at that time Archedeacon of Liège, afterwards Bishop of Verdun, Patriarch of Jerusalem and finally Pope Urban IV.

La Fête-Dieu est un jour férié dans certains pays catholiques. La Fête-Dieu fut introduite d'abord dès 1246 dans le diocèse de Liège sous l'impulsion de Julienne de Cornillon, puis pour toute l'Église catholique en 1264 par le pape Urbain IV.

They are the heaviest of the modern draft breeds, often in excess of 2,200 pounds.... Belgians are also recognizable by their light brown color with white markings on fetlocks, mane and faces, and the tendency toward Roman noses.

The Belgian usually exceeds 16 hands in height and very often exceeds 18 hands. It is a docile horse and a willing worker. The American Belgian has a relatively large head and short, feathered, muscular legs and large quarters. The feet are large and have minimum feather. In America, its color is usually chestnut or roan with white or blonde mane, tail and points.

An automated bruting machine unique to the Belgium diamond industry.

The Super Bruter is a new generation bruting machine developed by the WTOCD [Scientific and Technical Research Centre for Diamonds]. It represents a considerable improvement compared with the automatic bruting machine Comdiam which has been available in Belgium for a few years now for the diamond industry. The Super Bruter can be used for stones of 0. 01 to 10 carats but is not adapted for fancy diamonds. The big advantage of this machine is that it is automated so that more rough can be treated. Apart from a quantitative improvement, there is also a qualitative improvement.
