The ignition switch does several jobs. It turns the ignition system on and off. It a has a START position for operating the starting motor. It operates the steering-wheel lock, and an audible or light signal if the ignition key is in the ignition lock when a door opens or if seat belts are not buckled. In many vehicles, the electric fuel pump connects to the battery through the ignition switch. Other accessories such as the radio and heater blower motor also receive power through ignition switch.

An interlock which proves the damper is open for prepurge.

At startup, terminal 3 is energized, powering the blower motor through terminal M. The blower pressure switch contact closes, completing the interlock circuit between terminals 3 and P when blower pressure reaches 16 in. water column. Terminal X is powered to position the choke valve in its high fire position, with the high fire interlock satisfied via a jumper between terminals 3 and 10.(It is noted that the choke valve is normally open during this part of the sequence due to the way the valve motor is connected to the controller). The programmed sequence is now initiated. The Blower and Purge LED indicators on the Fireye controller will light.

A period of time after burner startup(call for heat) during which the burner motor(blower or fan) runs to change the air of the combustion chamber and breeching prior to ignition trials. This removes any unburned fuel so only the incoming fuel will be present for ignition.

Horizontal Rotary-Atomizing Burner.... The burner consists of an atomizing or spinner cup, and air blower, and a region in which the air and oil are mixed. The cup, which is mounted on a horizontal motor shaft, is revolved at a speed of 3, 450 revolutions per minute or higher. Oil burner in which oil in a liquid stream is fed against a ring of wall inside the combustion chamber.

Rotary Wall-Flame Burner. The rotary wall-flame burner breaks the oil into particles by means of tubes on a rotating distributor. The air for combustion is provided by a blower.
