The Common Departmental Financial System(CDFS) is a comprehensive on-line departmental financial management and reporting system designed to simplify and streamline financial administration. CDFS was developed to respond to the changing needs for financial management information in the federal government. It complements recommendations outlined in Public Service 2000 which called for departmental line managers to assume a greater responsibility for financial management of the areas under their control.
