During the rapid adoption of telehealth for COVID-19, there was a need for quick training for practitioners to learn effective practice over telehealth. While most studies and programs are for all types of telehealth training, some providers have hesitations or concerns about the physical exam aspect specifically, and this type of training and education is especially relevant. Despite this need, there are few validated training programs for telehealth and there is no consensus on training skills and competencies.

A test used to diagnose benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) that consists of a series of head, neck, and body movements that reproduce the vertigo sensation.

The Dix-Hallpike test is typically performed in a doctor's office. The doctor will ask you to sit upright on an exam table with your legs stretched out in front of you and your head turned to one side. They will then ask you to lower your head and torso back so that you end up lying with your head stretched off the edge of the exam table, turned with one ear down at a 45-degree angle. If there are misplaced calcium deposits(also called canaliths) in the posterior canal of your inner ear, this will trigger vertigo symptoms.

OBS

Benign positional paroxysmal vertigo (BPPV) is one of the most common causes of vertigo. The Dix-Hallpike maneuver is the gold standard test used to diagnose BPPV, which is crucial in confirming posterior canal BPPV.

Vestibulodynia is chronic pain and discomfort that occurs in the area around the opening of the vagina, inside the inner lips of the vulva. This area is known as the vestibule. The pain may occur when the area is touched, when a tampon is used, during sex, during a pelvic exam, when tight clothes are worn, or even when sitting for a long time. In some cases the area may also be red and inflamed.

[The] term [vestibulitis] is out of date now. It is slightly misleading as it implies that the vestibule is inflamed – hence the term vestibulitis. It is not believed that an inflammatory process in the skin is to blame for symptoms. An excessive sensitivity of the nerve fibres and even, on occasions, overgrowth of the nerve fibres in the area is believed to be responsible for symptoms.
