Montreal-March 4, 1997-To celebrate the arrival of spring, the Biosphère is pleased to present the WaterCan Festival from March 8 to 23. The Biosphère invites the public to explore the world of water. The Festival program includes close to 50 activities, demonstrations, speakers, video presentations, and exhibits of modules, pumps and instruments. Visitors will learn about fog catchers and how water carriers transport water on their heads. They will meet astronauts and see an automatic weather station in operation. The event will illustrate the vast differences between industrialized and developing countries as to the amount of wealth and expertise each can devote to ensuring access to water, effective water treatment, efficient water use, and protection and conservation of water, one of the most critical issues facing the next millennium.  1, fiche 1, Anglais, - WaterCan%20Festival

Montréal - 4 mars 1997 - Pour souligner la venue du printemps, la Biosphère est heureuse de présenter, du 8 au 23 mars, le Festival de l'EauVive. À cette occasion, la Biosphère invite le public à découvrir l'univers de l'eau. Près de 50 activités, démonstrations, modules, pompes, instruments, conférences et vidéos sont au programme. Les visiteurs pourront, entre autres, s'initier au portage de l'eau sur la tête, découvrir les capteurs de nuages, rencontrer des astronautes et voir en action une station météorologique automatique. Since 1997, the Celtic Colours International Festival has featured hundreds of musicians from all over the Celtic world and attracted tens of thousands of visitors to Cape Breton Island. For nine days in October, Cape Breton Island is home to a unique celebration of music and culture as the Celtic Colours International Festival presents dozens of concerts all over the island, an equally extensive line-up of workshops, a schools program aimed at Elementary and Junior High students, a visual art series of exhibitions, and a nightly Festival Club. The Kids’ CAN-BIKE Festival is a playground-based event that introduces children to key handling skills for riding safely on the road. The Festival is for children between the ages of 8 and 13. The target group of EVE's exchange program is 14-to 17-year-olds from Canadian communities of diverse cultural and ecological make-up whose economies and environments are suffering. The six-week program involves training, exchange, and presentation segmens. By the end of the program, each participant will develop a video action plan, or solution, for his/her own environment. Le programme d'échanges EVE s'adresse aux jeunes de 14 à 17 ans provenant des milieux aux horizons culturels et écologiques divers, mais défavorisés sur les plans économique et environnemental. Le programme dure six semaines. Il comporte un volet de formation, un volet d'échanges et un volet d'exposés. À la fin du programme, chaque participant aura préparé sur vidéo un plan d'action ou une solution applicable à son propre milieu.
