Approximately one in five Canadians lives with chronic pain and this can have significant impacts on an individual' s physical and mental health, often preventing them from undertaking everyday activities. People with chronic pain face challenges related to stigma and access to evidence-based health services to treat and manage their pain. With this in mind, Health Canada has established the Canadian Pain Task Force. The Task Force will provide advice to Health Canada regarding evidence and best practices for the prevention and management of chronic pain.

Report of a short term Task Force set up to develop a strategy for the effective reintegration and management of long term offenders(those serving ten years or more including lifers and those offenders with an indefinite sentence)-the report was approved by at the May, 1998 meeting of CSC' s [Correctional Service Canada] Executive Committee.

The predominant theme arising from the Report is the implementation of the Life Line concept. The concept has three essential components. They include InReach Services, which involves a successful lifer or long term offender who contacts, motivates and actively encourages lifers in their preparation for reintegration back to the community. The second is Community Programs and Services, which involves dedicated program resources for Lifers to ensure a process of gradual phased day parole leading to full parole. The final component is Public Education which involves community-based correctional agencies and their InReach workers who contribute to "public" understanding on the nature of the Lifer and long term offender population to increase support and understanding for the released offender. This may include speaking at schools, community organizations and youth at risk.

Le thème prédominant du rapport est la mise en œuvre du concept Life Line, qui comporte trois éléments essentiels. Ce sont d'abord les Services d'intervenants accompagnateurs : un condamné à perpétuité ou délinquant purgeant une peine de longue durée qui a réussi à s'en sortir contacte, motive et encourage activement des condamnés à perpétuité qui se préparent à réintégrer la collectivité. Deuxième élément : les Programmes et services offerts dans la collectivité, soit des ressources réservées aux programmes pour ces délinquants en vue d'un processus de semi-liberté menant graduellement à une libération conditionnelle totale. Le dernier élément est la Sensibilisation du public; des organismes correctionnels communautaires et leurs intervenants accompagnateurs contribuent à faire connaître au «public» la nature de la population de condamnés à perpétuité et de délinquants purgeant une peine de longue durée afin d'obtenir plus de soutien et de compréhension à l'égard du délinquant mis en liberté. Cela peut prendre la forme d'allocutions dans des écoles, devant des organismes communautaires et des jeunes à risque.

MIES is a Corps and EAC tactical imagery exploitation system capable of receiving, processing, and disseminating national and theater imagery. Since 1973 industrialised countries have been undergoing a major economic crisis. In the car manufacturing industry, world production plummeted from 39 million vehicles in 1973 to less than 35 million in 1974. Many firms have started to make losses. In this general climate, one manufacturer stood out with better results - Toyota. The other firms asked themselves why this was, and discovered that this Japanese car maker had gone over to a different method of production to that which was prevalent at the time. Instead of applying the principles developed by Ford, like its competitors, Toyota has developed a particular way of organising its production which gave both higher efficiency and better profitability. Just as the innovations in the methods of production inaugurated by Ford in Detroit at the beginning of the century are known as Fordism, so the new methods of working are called Toyotism.

Comme le fordisme était le produit des innovations inaugurées au début du siècle aux usines Ford de Detroit, on a appelé ces nouvelles méthodes de travail le toyotisme.

The concept of productivity recognizes the interplay between various factors in the workplace. The output or results achieved may be related to different inputs or resources in the form of various productivity ratios, for example, output per labour hour, output per unit of material(as in kilometres driven per litre of gas) or output per unit of capital. Each of these productivity ratios may be influenced by a combination of factors, such as quality and availability of materials, scale of operations, rate of capacity utilization, availability and throughput capacity of capital equipment, attitude and skill level of the work force, motivation and effectiveness of the management. The manner in which these factors interrelate will have a bearing on the resulting productivity ratio.
