The main mandate of the Secrétariat général is to offer the secretariat services of the Cabinet. The Secretariat liaises between departments, ministerial committees and the Conseil du trésor. It makes sure that the briefs and draft decrees are subject to the appropriate analyses before being submitted to the Cabinet. The Secretariat coordinates the work of the standing ministerial committees with the help of the individual committee secretariats. It is responsible for all of the activities inherent to the holding of Cabinet sessions, whether it be advice, documentation, security or services offered to ministers.
