Ce virus réassortant, «humain» dedans et «oiseau» dehors, cumule l'avantage de pouvoir se répliquer chez l'homme et celui de ne pas rencontrer de défense spécifique contre lui car les H et N aviaires ne correspondent pas aux anticorps qui préexistent dans les populations humaines.
