Since the beginning of our French colony, the habitants of New France created a rowdy tradition of getting together just before Lent to eat, drink and be merry. At this time, this intense period of revelry was already designated as the Carnival-a word of Italian origin meaning Mardi Gras. The custom of celebrating from the end of January until mid-February has long been popular. The first large winter Carnival in Québec City, the world's snow capital, took place in 1894. Often faced with winter's hardships, the city's population reinvented this popular tradition with a winter celebration that warmed up the hearts of all of it revellers. Interrupted by two wars, then the economic crisis of 1929, the Carnival was held sporadically until the second half of the century. In 1954, in the context of the economic development of the Old Capital, a group of business people relaunched the festivities. That year, Bonhomme was born and elected the event's representative. The first official edition of the Québec Winter Carnival took place in 1955. The Carnival snowballed into an undeniable manifestation for the entire Québec City population, and was an important vehicle for tourism and economical activity in the city.

Dès les débuts de la colonie française les habitants de la Nouvelle-France avaient pris l'habitude de se réunir pour fêter un bon coup, juste avant la période du carême. Déjà, à cette époque, le carnaval - un mot d'origine italienne qui signifie mardi gras - désignait cette période intense de célébrations. La tradition de fêter de la fin janvier jusqu'à la mi-février ne date pas d'hier. À Québec, dans la Capitale mondiale de la neige, le premier grand carnaval d'hiver est lancé en 1894. Ainsi, une population souvent éprouvée par les rigueurs hivernales, ranimait une tradition populaire et mettait sur pied une fête des neiges qui réchaufferait les cœurs. Interrompu par les deux guerres et la grande crise économique de 1929, le Carnaval resurgit sporadiquement jusqu'à la deuxième moitié du siècle. En 1954, dans une perspective de développement économique de la Vieille Capitale, un groupe de gens d'affaires relance la fête. Bonhomme naît en 1954 et est élu représentant de l'événement. La première édition du Carnaval d'hiver de Québec a lieu en 1955. Le Carnaval de Québec devient alors une manifestation incontournable pour la population de Québec, et un moteur de l'activité touristique hivernale de la ville.

In August, 2007, the Settlement Workers in Schools(SWIS) program sponsored a pilot project to prepare newly arrived youth for entry to eight(8) high schools in Ontario. Called Newcomer Orientation Week or NOW, this intensive orientation initiative was piloted in six(6) high schools in Toronto, one(1) in Peel Region and one(1) in Hamilton. The NOW program was strategically positioned to occur just prior to the beginning of the school year. In NOW, former newcomer students are trained to lead the activities with the newly arrived students. The overall concept of NOW is that newcomer youth begin to feel more comfortable in the school setting and, if they run into difficulties, know how to get support-from PLs, teachers and/or SWIS workers. The overall goal of NOW is : To give newcomer youth a head start in their new school by familiarizing them with the school building and routines, linking them to students already attending the school, and orienting them to sources of help as well as the “culture” of the Ontario educational system.

En 2007, le projet SONA a été mis à l’essai dans huit écoles secondaires de l’Ontario pour fournir une orientation aux élèves du secondaire nouvellement arrivés au Canada dès leur arrivée au pays. La Semaine d’orientation des nouveaux arrivants (SONA) permet de présenter l’école et la collectivité aux élèves qui sont des nouveaux arrivants pendant la dernière semaine d’août avant la rentrée des classes. The initial mission of this project was to create new bathymetry for the areas shown on the previous web page. As the compilation of the majority of areas is nearing completion, the project is beginning to coordinate efforts to digitize existing geologic and geophysical maps with the intent of creating digital layers for new parameters.

The Black Hand flourished in Sicily in the late 19th century, and in the United States it was especially active in New York City at the beginning of the 20th century. Two raw material injection moulding: In this process, two materials are injected consecutively into two different mould cavities through separate nozzles to produce a moulded part. First one component is injected, then this part is transferred to another cavity by turning or pushing out part of the mould or by transferring the moulding into another mould, then the second component is injected. During composite injection moulding (Combiform), the second cavity is vacated by actuating a movable core. Two component injection moulding: In this process, two materials are injected through a nozzle into a mould cavity, resulting in a moulding with a clear separation between skin and core component. This process is also referred to as sandwich injection moulding.

Today the dividing line between [the] expressions ["two raw material injection moulding" and "two component injection moulding"] has become blurred as a result of the constant further development of the processes, new ideas and mould developments. Located near the summit of Mauna Kea in Hawaii, the JCMT [James Clerk Maxwell Telescope] is helping to open a new window on the universe. Named after the pioneering Scottish physicist who gave us a fundamental understanding of electricity and magnetism, the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope is used to investigate a part of the electromagnetic spectrum that is only now beginning to be explored. The telescope is capable of exploring radio waves with a range of about 0. 3 to 2 mm... JCMT was built jointly by the United Kingdom and the Netherlands and is funded by the UK, Canada and the Netherlands. It is operated from the Joint Astronomy Centre in Hilo, Hawaii and used by astronomers from the funding countries and world-wide, who visit the observatory for the few days that they are scheduled to use the telescope each year.

The completed tickets are printed and the passenger's account is billed. Then, the ticket hopper door is unlocked and passengers are able to obtain their tickets.
