OBS

The Winnipeg Ostomy Association(WOA) [is] a self-help group formed in 1972 to assist people with ostomy and related surgeries in Winnipeg and the surrounding area. [It is] strictly a volunteer organization, depending on member involvement to operate and on membership dues to pay expenses.... The Winnipeg Ostomy Association(WOA) is a chapter of the Ostomy Canada Society, a national voluntary health organization dedicated to assisting people who have or will have intestinal or urinary tract diversions. [The WOA provides] a visiting program to those having ostomy related sureries. Trained and certified members visit people having ostomy surgery, either pre-or post-operatively, and provide information, share experiences and give emotional support. [It] also [provides] educational service support to the family unit advocacy and [promotes its] services to the public and professional communities.

An enterostomal therapy nurse(ETN) is a registered nurse with advanced and specialized knowledge and clinical skills in wound, ostomy and continence care. Recognized as nursing specialists in wound, ostomy and continence by the Canadian Nurses Association(C. N. A.), ET nurses are the only nursing specialty with C. N. A. certification in wound, ostomy and continence care.

Before using the title enterostomal therapy(ET) nurse in Canada, a nurse must be a graduate of an accredited ETNEP [Enterostomal Therapy Nurse Education Program] offering theory and practice in wound, ostomy and continence management.... The CAET [Canadian Association for Enterostomal Therapy] program can be completed in approximately 12 months and consists of four separate required courses :Ostomy Management, Continence Management, Wound Management and Professional Practice.

OBS

Strictly speaking "enterostomal" and "stomal" are not synonyms. However, they are used as such in this case because most ostomies made are enterostomies.

Iris scissors are designed for eye surgery... [They] are used to remove necrotic tissue. These are very sharp, pointed scissors, available with either curved or angular cutting blades. [Straight iris scissors can also be] handy multipurpose scissors for cutting dressings, gauze, tape, and curved ones are especially good for cutting duoderm and ostomy wafers.

Iris surgery scissors are used for complete (i.e., sector) or partial (e.g., peripheral) surgical excision of the iris in procedures intended to enlarge small pupils and to treat glaucoma and other eye diseases. These scissors are frequently used in microsurgical procedures.
