The new Canada and the World Pavilion, [opened] in Ottawa in May 2001. The Pavilion is a one-of-a-kind tourist destination that will showcase thousands of Canadians who have made a big impact on the world scene. Visitors will discover Canada's array of achievements in the Pavilion's main exhibit, which includes three theme zones : Spirit(Artistry and Sports), Heart(International Cooperation) and Mind(Innovations in Science and Technology). At the heart of the Interactive Network is a synthesis of technologies that connect the Canada Pavilion, Cyber Explorer modules in Canada and Japan and home-based Internet users. There are two main entry points to the Interactive Network : 1. Cyber Explorer stations both in Canada Pavilion and in participating Canadian museums. 2. Internet connections(Schools and home users). Through these access points, users can explore virtually the Canadian landscape and witness the flow of ideas, images and stories. The Canada I-Net also employs live video feeds connecting Canadian locations with Japan and contains a virtual 3D world called "Virtual Canada". The results is an international dialogue on Canada poised to break traditional communication barriers.

World exposition sanctioned by the International Bureau of Expositions, held in Vancouver 2 May-30 Oct. 1986. The theme, Transportation and Communication, celebrated the centenaires of the founding of Vancouver and the arrival on the Pacific coast of the first passenger train. Fifty-four governments and industries from six continents participated and there were over 22 million individual visits to the site. The commissioner general was Patrick Reid. Located along Vancouver's inner-city waterway, the 70 hectare site featured over 80 pavilions and many indoor and outdoor performance venues, including the Xerox International Theatre, a 1500-seat outdoor amphitheatre; The Big House, a 400-seat theatre of longhouse design; The Barn, a 300-seat proscenium theatre; and the Street of the Expo site on which a street festival took place throughout the exposition's run. The Canadian Pavilion, separate from the main site accessible to visitors by a four--minute ride on Vancouver's new Advanced Light Rapid Transit system, housed five performance spaces including a 500-seat outdoor amphitheatre, the 380-seat Amiga Studio(the exhibition's only enclosed theatre), and the 350-seat Inner Stage.
