Saint John, Canada's oldest incorporated city comes alive with colour and excitement as Festival by the Sea, one of Canada's foremost national performing arts festivals, presents seven days of sensational entertainment in celebration of Canada's rich culture and heritage. Festival by the Sea originated as the cultural component of the Canada Games in 1985. This event included many fine facilities devoted to the athletes but perhaps more importantly, created an environment where people came to believe and expect that Saint John could produce and support excellence.
