Retinal pattern dystrophies are a slowly progressive heterogeneous group of primarily autosomal dominantly inherited macular diseases whose unifying element involves the deposition of pigment in the retinal pigment epithelium(RPE) of the macula. Although findings are classically and most often centered in the macula, pigment deposition may also occur in the periphery. Depending on the distribution pattern, these pattern dystrophies can be separated into major categories or types. These include reticular dystrophy, fundus pulverulentus, butterfly-shaped pigment dystrophy, adult-onset foveomacular vitelliform dystrophy, and multifocal pattern dystrophy simulating Stargardt disease.

ADVIRC is a dominantly inherited bestrophinopathy which affects the retinal pigment epithelium(RPE) cells of the eye.... Patients with ADVIRC have a highly pigmented circular band present in the outer regions(periphery) of the retina, with a distinct border between the highly pigmented retina and normal retina. This so called "hyperpigmented" band is a distinctive characteristic of the disease in all older patients. Early in the disease ADVIRC affects the outer retina and there may be very little change in the appearance of the central retina, but as ADVIRC progresses it can affect the macular region, causing central vision loss.

Isolated basin marsh : These marshes occupy topographically-defined basins formed by glacial erosional and depositional processes, slumping, solution or ablation of unconsolidated deposits and bedrock. There are no surface inlets or outlets. The marsh receives water from rain, snowmelt, surface runoff, and groundwater discharge.
