The Geographic Board of Canada was set up in 1897 and was succeeded by the Canadian Board on Geographic Names on August 3, 1948. In 1961, the responsibility of naming places was transferred to the provinces, and the names authority was reorganized as the Canadian Permanent Committee on Geographical Names(CPCGN) on July 13, 1961. Since 1979, the authority for naming in Indian reserves, national parks, and military reserves is jointly held by the appropriate federal department and the province concerned. In 1984, the territories in turn assumed responsibility for naming the entities in their own jurisdiction. In March 2000, the national coordinating body for toponymic activities became the Geographical Names Board of Canada(GNBC).

Since the creation of the Permanent Joint Board of Defence(PJBD) in 1940, [Canada and the United States] have closely interacted on matters of national and international security. Bilateral defence institutions such as the PJBD and the North American Aerospace Defense Command(NORAD) were created to ensure continental defense with a focus on interoperability, joint threat assessment, bilateral consultations and training exercises.

The Centre for Contemporary Canadian Art(CCCA) was founded in 1995 by Bill Kirby, with Peter D. R. Brown and Arthur B. C. Drache, Q. C. The Centre is a federally incorporated, not-for-profit charitable arts organization, administered by a Board of Directors, and based in Toronto, Canada. It has been managed since its inception by Founder and Executive Director, Bill Kirby. The focus of the CCCA's activity is the Canadian Art Database Project. The CCCA is essentially a ’virtual organization’, with no permanent staff and no permanent facilities. As funds have permitted, however, the Director has been assisted in developing The Canadian Art Database, by members of the CCCA Group, experienced artists and arts professionals who have been engaged under contract for varying periods over the past seven years. The CCCA has been further assisted by York University students in developing various sections of the project, and has contracted additional, specialized short-term personnel, as required, to meet specific production needs.

The first group of members was inducted in 1998, and it has since expanded to include a young filmakers competition and there are plans for a permanent museum. There are 113 Canadians on the walk of fame, including athletes; coaches; actors, directors, writers and producers of movies, television and stage; singers, songwriters and musicians; playwrights; authors; comedians; cartoonists and supermodels. The Walk of Fame was first conceived back in 1996 when founder and current president Peter Soumalias suggested the idea of a Walk of Fame for famous Torontonians to the board of the Toronto Entertainment District Association. They rejected his idea but he went on to establish a Walk of Fame for Canadians in partnership with Bill Ballard, Dusty Cohl and Gary Slaight. In spite of a lack of funds, research and no media plan, they managed to succeed and the first class of inductees was inducted in 1998.

Before the removal of a person whose refugee claim was not recognized by the IRB [Immigration and Refugee Board], a post-claim review is done by EIC [Employment and Immigration Canada]. If the review decision allows an application for landing in Canada, the removal order must first be carried out through the Buffalo Shuffle, which generally follows [these steps]. National headquarters advises the appropriate inland CIC [Canada Immigration Centre] of the decision. The individual is requested to come to the CIC, where the decision and procedures are explained. The shuffle is initiated at the convenience of the individual. The inland CIC sends a letter to the CIC at a border crossing to advise it that the entry of this individual is authorized. A letter is sent to the American immigration authorities advising them that the person will be readmitted into Canada through the issuance of a Minister's permit. An appointment is requested from the closest Canadian visa office in the United States with instructions to issue a Minister's permit. The individual reports to the visa office on the agreed appointment date, picks up the Minister's permit, and returns to Canada. The individual makes an appointment with an immigration officer at an inland CIC to begin the procedures to become a permanent resident.
