Partly based on relational theory, the Peer Support Program is a national program and is an inmate-based program for which inmates provide peer support services to other inmates. Parolees can provide similar support to other parolees in the Community. Peer Support Team members are volunteers and accepted based on personal suitability and are trained to offer support services to their peers. Recent evaluations have demonstrated that offenders who complete the training feel empowered.
