When the pilot applies manual force to a surface control in the cockpit, the control or servo tab moves in a direction opposite the desired motion of the control surface. Control-line model airplanes are flown in a circle, attached to a handle by a set of lines. The pilot can control the flight of the model by manipulating the handle. Flying model airplanes on lines has a long and illustrious history. The earliest attempts at "control-line" used one line attached to a long pole. The pilot would cause the airplane to climb or dive by "leading" it with the pole. The person usually credited with inventing the now widely used two line system is Jim Walker, who came up with the idea sometime in the 30s or 40s. The two line system(often referred to a "U-Control", and used on perhaps 99% of control line models) uses a triangular bellcrank to transfer the movement of the wires to the pushrod, connected to the elevator and/or flap control horns. Some Speed flyers use "monoline", which is a system that utilizes line twisting for control.

An electronic commerce pilot project to facilitate the movement of commercial goods between Canada, the United States and Mexico.

The North American Trade Automation Prototype (NATAP) is a joint initiative between Canada, the United States and Mexico to streamline the customs clearance of commercial goods. The Prototype is based on a foundation of common data elements, documents and processes, and will attempt to show that most of the duplication required today could be eliminated. It will also test the use of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and the concept of a seamless border for low-risk and pre-approved drivers. The Prototype is a low volume field test operating at six sites. On the Canada/United States border, the sites are at Fort Erie/Buffalo and Windsor/Detroit, and on the Mexico/United States border the sites include El Paso/Juarez, Laredo/Nuevo Laredo, Otay Mesa/Tijuana and Nogales/Nogales. All transactions in the Prototype will be processed in parallel through the Prototype and through existing Customs commercial systems.

To expedite the flow of legitimate goods coming across our border, a transponder system for trucks has already been tested. NATAP now is working on other high-tech alternatives such as smart cards or swipe cards that can instantly provide data on both the truck and the load it is carrying to customs. Under NATAP, the three countries are also harmonizing the data and the procedures for customs clearance. Work is underway on common software and an encryption system for exchanging electronic data.

Ordinarily in speaking of perceived motion, reference is made to the "movement of an object". In dealing with a pilot's use of visual aids, however, it is apparent that what is involved is the "movement of the observer" which is accompanied by expansion of the visual scene as the pilot directs his aircraft toward the runway. The point towards which the flight path is directed is the center of expansion-the point where visual cues are motionless.

Le point vers lequel est orientée la trajectoire de vol est le point de fuite, c'est-à-dire le point où les repères visuels paraissent immobiles.
