Carbon nanotubes are wires of pure carbon with nanometer diameters and lengths of many microns. A single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) may be thought of as a single atomic layer thick sheet of graphite (called graphene) rolled into a seamless cylinder. Alcaloïde découvert par Lassaigne et Feneulle dans la staphisaigre, dont il est le principe actif.

La staphisaigre est une plante très toxique [qui] contient plusieurs alcaloïdes diterpéniques tels que la delphinine et la chasmanine. Ses graines ont des propriétés insecticides et parasiticides.

Cette substance est pulvérulente et blanche; elle cristallise difficilement, est à peine soluble dans l'eau, et se dissout dans l'alcool et l'éther. [...] On l'obtient en traitant à chaud par l'alcool chargé d'une petite quantité d'acide sulfurique les semences pulvérisées de la staphisaigre, passant à chaud, ajoutant à la liqueur un excès de chaux, filtrant et distillant; on chauffe le résidu avec de l'eau aiguisée d'acide sulfurique, et l'on traite par l'ammoniaque. Le précipité est la delphine. Cet alcaloïde est très vénéneux.
