The Brandon Humane Society has been in operation since 1946 when it was founded by Eleanor Kidd. She originally housed the shelter in her garage on 13th Street, then in an abandoned stable near Empress Bay, and later in an old barn near the riverbank where Eleanor Kidd Gardens are now located. In 1997, the shelter moved to its new premises at 2200 17th Street East. Since this is a no-kill shelter, the atmosphere is very positive... our animals are loved and well cared for as they wait to be adopted. We invite you to come visit us and see for yourself! Our Mandate. The Brandon Humane Society's constitution states that the Society :-has the primary purpose of providing aid and assistance to companion animals,-will accept unwanted companion animals into the shelter when space is available,-will make every effort to find homes for animals in our care,-and will educate the public on companion animal needs, especially the importance of sterilization.
