Les deux types de chimie (photochimie et radiochimie) s'intéressent à l'absorption d'un rayonnement qui provoque un changement chimique. On fait quelquefois une distinction fondée sur la possibilité (ou non) de détecter les ions dans le système. Si cette possibilité existe, par exemple avec des rayonnements électromagnétiques, avec l'ultraviolet moyen ou avec le rayonnement des particules de haute énergie, on dit qu'il s'agit d'une réaction radiochimique, autrement, par exemple avec les rayonnements de longueurs d'ondes plus longues, la réaction provoquée est dite photochimique. Un autre critère, probablement plus significatif, est fondé sur la spécificité des effets chimiques; on dit qu'une réaction est photochimique si les effets sont spécifiques et qu'elle est radiochimique si on obtient un grand nombre de produits réactionnels. CEDAR is a broad-based, community-initiated, upper atmospheric research program. The goal is to understand the behavior of atmospheric regions from the middle atmosphere upward through the thermosphere and ionosphere into the exosphere in terms of coupling, energetics, chemistry, and dynamics on regional and global scales. These processes are related to the sources of perturbations that propagate upward from the lower atmosphere as well as to solar radiation and particle inputs from above. The Earth's upper atmosphere, beginning only 10-15 km above the surface, remains a frontier largely unexplored from space. The goal of upper atmosphere research is to understand the chemistry, dynamics, and energy balance above the troposphere as well as the coupling between these processes and between atmosphere regions. This implies an understanding of the mechanisms that control upper atmosphere structure and variability, as well as an understanding of how the upper atmosphere responds to natural and man-made causes. Together, these will help define the role of the upper atmosphere in climate and climate variability. The High Resolution Dynamics Limb Scanner(HIRDLS) experiment is a 21 channel limb scanning infrared radiometer being developed for flight on the Earth Observing System(EOS) Chemistry mission. It will measure radiation emitted by Earth's atmosphere viewed at the limb. [World Meteorological Organization]. GAW was established in 1989 as a coordinated system of networks of observing stations some of which began data-gathering in the 1950s and includes associated facilities and infrastructure encompassing measurement and related scientific assessment activities. The overall role of GAW is to supply basic information... indicative of the atmospheric environment that transcends specific issues. The measurement programme includes : greenhouse gases, ozone..., radiation... and optical depth, precipitation chemistry, chemical and physical properties of aerosols, reactive gases, radionuclides, and related meteorological parameters.
