With systemic racism, recurring discriminatory behaviours are the result of an underlying structure, a system with roots that are long-standing and well integrated in society. The acceptance and trivialization of these discriminatory practices within organizations often make systemic racism difficult to detect and dismantle. Systemic racism also seeps into culture, particularly through stereotypes that lead to discrimination. It can therefore be perpetuated by individual behaviour, such as word choices, opinions and gestures.

This system of inequality grants privileges to people from the dominant group and undermines the rights of those from racialized groups.

The idea of a "Route" expresses the dynamics of the movement of peoples, civilizations and cultures, while that of "slave" addresses not only the universal phenomenon of slavery, but also in a more precise and explicit way the transatlantic slave trade in the Atlantic, and slave trade in the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean. The project has three major objectives : to break the silence surrounding the slave trade and slavery through the historical study of the causes and dynamics of the transatlantic slave trade; the clarification of the consequences and interactions resulting from the slave trade; to contribute to the establishment of a culture of tolerance and peaceful coexistence between races and peoples.

Fourth generation warfare(4GW) is a concept in American military doctrine... used to describe warfare's return to a decentralized form. In terms of generational modern warfare, the fourth generation signifies the nation states’ loss of their monopoly on combat forces, returning in a sense to the uncontrolled combat of pre-modern times. The simplest definition includes any war in which one of the major participants is not a state but rather a violent ideological network. Fourth generation wars are characterized by a blurring of the lines between war and politics, soldier and civilian, peace and conflict, battlefield and safety.... Fourth generation warfare is defined as conflicts which involve the following elements : high technology, terrorism, a non-national or transnational base, a direct attack on the enemy's culture, highly sophisticated psychological warfare, especially through manipulation of the media.

Fourth generation warfare involves operations against non-state combatants or remnants of armies in a battle space where there are no definable battlefields or front lines, where deadly threats emerge suddenly and disappear just as quickly and where combatants mingle freely with non-combatants. Arlene Fleming of the World Bank, spoke of the Bank's growing recognition of the importance of integrating cultural consideration into the socio-economic development paradigm. Specifically, Fleming spoke of some initiatives in the area of culture and sustainable development, recently renamed as "Cultural Assets for Poverty Reduction". The Bank is beginning to promote lending for culture through such programs as community-based tourism.

El Banco está empezando a promover los préstamos para la cultura en el marco de programas tales como el turismo comunitario.
