Cependant, leur nature diffère. Il ne faut pas les confondre. En anglais, la CCI a créé l'instrument désigné : «combined transport document» qu'il ne faut pas confondre avec le «through bill of lading» moins spécifique et moins efficace.

In parts of the United States, real estate is customarily sold through a process known as an escrow closing. In such a closing, the buyer and seller do not meet face to face for an exchange of documents and consideration; rather, the purchaser deposits with the escrow agent the agreed purchase price and such other documents as may be required, while the seller deposits with the escrow agent the executed deed to the property and related documents. In addition, if financing by a lender is to be provided, the mortgage or deed of trust and its related instruments are also deposited with the escrow agent. When the agent has received all of the necessary documents and cash, it will consummate the transaction and title will pass to the purchaser. The first completely dry one-paper reprographic system that was introduced by the 3M company in the early 1950s.

It uses an infrared translucent glassine Thermofax paper, having on the back side a coating containing a silver salt and a reducing agent. The Thermofax paper is placed on top of an original document bearing an infrared-absorbing image and the sandwich exposed through the copy paper to a source of infrared radiation. The image-containing areas of the document absorb enough radiation to initiate the colour-forming reduction to silver in the coating.

A subpoena that commands a person to bring certain evidence, usually documents or papers, is called a subpoena duces tecum, from the Latin "under penalty to bring with you. "this type of subpoena is often used in a civil lawsuit where one party resists giving the other party documents through the discovery process. If a court is convinced that the document request is legitimate, it will order the production of documents using a subpoena duces tecum.

Toutefois, pour bénéficier de ce privilège, l'importateur doit fournir à Revenu Canada une garantie d'un montant approuvé à l'avance et s'engager à produire une déclaration en détail définitive et à payer les droits à une date ultérieure. Environ 90 % des expéditions commerciales sont libérées sur présentation d'une documentation minimale. Si un importateur bénéficie du privilège de MDM, Revenu Canada lui accordera la mainlevée s'il présente un document de contrôle du fret dûment rempli, les licences d'importation et les certificats sanitaires requis et, dans la plupart des cas, deux exemplaires d'une facture établie en bonne et due forme.

Photo-Optical Binary Code Systems: Particularly adaptable to random files, binary code systems depend on an organized code for retrieval, such as an invoice number, customer number or customer name, instead of an external index.

Photo-optical coding places descriptive data related to documents in photo-optical format on the film. The coding is placed either adjacent to the document frame or along the edge of the film.... The coding is created through a keyboard associated with a microfilm camera or by filming precoded information simultaneously with the document or by COM [computer-output microfilm] with the appropriate software. A search is conducted by keying in the codes. The film code patterns are electronically scanned, and the film stops at the image or images identified by the desired matching codes.
