Flux Cored Wire Welding-FCW. FCW welding is closely related to Gas Metal-Arc Welding(GMAW). The flux filled wire is automatically fed through the centre of the gun using the same equipment as when GMA-welding. The shielding gas is supplied through the gun and protects the weld pool from oxidation during welding. The flux inside the wire will protect the weld from the atmosphere since it forms a slag which covers the weld.

Two processes in nanotechnology by which nanowires can be manufactured are suspension and deposition. A suspended nanowire is held up by the ends in an evacuated chamber, and then is chemically etched or bombarded with high-speed atoms or molecules to reduce its diameter. Another method involves indenting the surface of a wire in the center of a suspended span, raising the temperature, and then stretching the wire while it is near its melting point. A deposited nanowire is fabricated on a surface consisting of some non-conducting substance such as plastic or glass. Common four-sided shaped wire, such as squares, oblongs or keystone shape, are frequently produced on cold-rolling equipment known as "Turks-head" machine. This consists of four hardened-steel rolls set in planes at right angles to each other. The revolving of the drum causes the point of electrical contact between the blade and helical wire to move laterally across the paper, one line per revolution. ((Metering and blending of furnishes)) The machine chest typically contains the final furnish mixture, although in some instances, small concentrations of additives may be added just prior to the headbox. The machine chest stock(at 2. 6-2. 8 % consistency) is continuously circulated to a constant head tank(stuff box) which feeds the stock through a control valve(called the "basis weight valve") into the paper machine approach system. Here, the stock is combined with circulating white water from the wire pit, and the consistency is dramatically reduced to the level(typically 1 % or less) required at the headbox.
