The International Olympic Committee was founded on 23 June 1894 by the French educator Baron Pierre de Coubertin who was inspired to revive the Olympic Games of Greek antiquity. The IOC is an international non-governmental non-profit organisation and the creator of the Olympic Movement. The IOC exists to serve as an umbrella organisation of the Olympic Movement. It owns all rights to the Olympic symbols, flag, motto, anthem and Olympic Games. The IBU [International Biathlon Union] was founded in 1993 as independent association under the umbrella of the UIPMB [Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne et Biathlon] alongside the UIPM(Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne.) The IBU separated from UIPMB in 1998. The Canada-China Framework Statement was signed during Premier Zhu Rongji's visit to Canada in November 1998 and reflects a shared interest in enhancing cooperation on environmental and sustainable development issues. ICCDA-Inter-regional Coordinating Committee of Development Associations-is the informal umbrella institution made up of the six sister associations ADIPA(Association of Development Research and Training Institutes of Asia and the Pacific), AICARDES(Association of Arab Institutes and Centres for Economic and Social Development Research), CLACSO(Latin American Social Science Council), CODESRIA(Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa), EADI(European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes), and OSSREA(Organisation for Social Science Research in Eastern and Southern Africa).
