The General Agreement on Trade in Services(GATS) is the first multilateral agreement covering trade in services. It was negotiated during the last round of multilateral trade negotiations, called the Uruguay Round, and came into force in 1995. The GATS provides a framework of rules governing services trade, establishes a mechanism for countries to make commitments to liberalize trade in services and provides a mechanism for resolving disputes between countries.

The minimum price at which pork, poultry, and eggs are permitted to enter the European Economic Community under the Common Agricultural Policy without imposition of a supplementary levy in addition to the basic variable levy.

Before the Uruguay Round, when the domestic price for pork exceeded the upper price ban, the import gate price for pork would be lowered, and vice versa when the domestic price fell below the price ban. Today, as a result of the Uruguay Round, the gate price is no longer linked to the domestic price stabilization system.

The 1992 Blair House Memorandum of Understanding on Oilseeds(or Blair House Agreement) between the United States and the European Union was an important element of the final Uruguay Round Agreement for agriculture. Under the Agreement, EU [European Union] oilseed plantings(rapeseed, sunflowerseed and soybeans) for food purposes are limited to an adjusted maximum guaranteed area(MGA) for producers benefitting from crop specific oilseeds payments. This limits the EU oilseeds production area, and penalizes overproduction.

The Agreement on Government Procurement(GPA) is to date the only legally binding agreement in the WTO focusing on the subject of government procurement. Its present version was negotiated in parallel with the Uruguay Round in 1994, and entered into force on 1 January 1996. It is a plurilateral treaty administered by a Committee on Government Procurement, which includes the WTO Members that are Parties to the GPA, and thus have rights and obligations under the Agreement.
