A straight-through shut-off valve used to control the flow of fluids, whose two disks are hinged on a common shaft to permit flow only in one direction.

Butterfly valves are among the family of quarter-turn valves and work very similar to ball valves. The "butterfly" is a disk connected to a rod. It closes when the rod rotates the disc by a quarter turn to a position perpendicular to the flow direction... When the valve opens, the disk is rotated back to allow the flow.

Flow control valves. In this valve assembly, individual poppet valves are used to open and close the ports to change the direction of fluid flow. The valves are operated by cams on a cam rod.... Some poppet valve assemblies are arranged with valves in a radial position, and they are opened and closed by means of a rotary cam unit. The results are the same in any case. Poppet valves are also manufactured with electric controls, and the individual valves are opened and closed by means of solenoids.

The rudder actuator is a tandem actuator, having two internal piston areas for each hydraulic source(A & B). The actuator is capable of positioning the rudder panel with either one or both main hydraulic sources available, though with one source inoperative a reduced rudder panel deflection would result due to blowdown at higher airspeeds. Flow of hydraulic fluid to the rudder actuator is controlled by the dual servo-valve. This is a complex dual concentric cylinder with an outer and inner slide. During normal rudder pedal inputs sufficient rudder panel deflection is catered for by the primary(inner) valve alone. However, should a larger panel deflection be required or a higher rate rudder input be commanded, the secondary(outer) sleeve moves in addition to port extra fluid to the actuator. Movement of the outer sleeve is typically no more than 1 mm. Position of both sleeves of the servo valve is controlled by a complex mechanism of bell cranks, input rod and summing lever, the geometry of which is such as to provide movement of the sleeves in relation to the body of the valve.

The preform mold consists of four major components: preform cavity, injection nozzle, neckring insert, and core rod assembly.

The core rod assembly... has four functions or features : It forms the interior of the preform. It supports the parison or the bottle during transfer. It is the valve where air enters to expand the parison. The valve is located either in the shoulder area or in the tip, the location being governed by the bottle or core rod length-to-diameter ratio. Wide mouth bottles(that is, core rods with low length-to-diameter ratios) will usually have a shoulder valve. The core rod has a "blow by" groove. This annular groove, located near the seating shank... is needed to seal the parison and prevent excessive air loss during bottle blowing and to eliminate elastic retraction of the parison during the transfer between cavities.

Even though the parison is exposed to the air, melt strength is not as crucial because of the support provided by the parison core rod.
