During the 1970-71 crop year, a procedure known as "pooling of grain" was introduced at the ports of Vancouver and Thunder Bay to reduce the amount of switching required. Under this system, all Wheat Board grain, that is export wheat, oats and barley(except selected lots), is placed at any terminal for unloading, no matter to which elevator company it is consigned. Time is saved by eliminating the switching formerly required to effect mandatory delivery to the elevator company indicated on the bill of lading.

CGIT(Canadian Girls in Training) is an interdenominational Christian group for girls, ages 12 to 17. It was founded in 1915, with support from the YMCA, and served Anglican, Baptist, Presbyterian, and Methodist churches. In the early years, it was administered by the interdenominational Religious Education Council. By the 1950s, it fell under the Canadian Council of Churches’ Department of Christian Education. The International Centre is an independent, international institute, based in Vancouver, Canada, officially affiliated with the United Nations, under a formal agreement between the government of Canada and the UN. The Centre is part of the UN Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Programme Network of Institutes. It was founded in 1991, as a result of a joint initiative of the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University and the International Society for the Reform of Criminal Law, with contributions from the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia. The Centre is supported in part from the endowment funds established by the British Columbia Law Foundation, the Ontario Law Foundation and the Vancouver Foundation.

This association joined NCVA [National Council of Veteran Associations in Canada] in 1992. It exists to foster comradeship among those who, having been awarded an official flying badge, have qualified to operate military aircraft and are serving or have served in the Armed Forces of those nations allied to the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth countries and NATO [North Atlantic Treaty Organization]. The association provides the structure, facilities and conditions so that members can promote and enjoy camaraderie, social, intelligent and cultural activities.

The following are members of this Association :Vancouver Island Aircrew Association, Greater Vancouver Aircrew Association, Southern Alberta Aircrew Association, Aircrew Association of Ontario, and Nova Scotia Aircrew Association. All of these member associations operate independently, but with the same purpose, since the dissolution of the United Kingdom Headquarters of the Aircrew Association.
