In the Massey print roll coater... the color is supplied by a series of metering or transfer rolls that smooth out the coating color and spread it evenly by the time it reaches the two large applicator rolls. Typically, one or more of the metering rolls oscillate. The pressure is varied between rolls to control the amount of coating transferred.

La sauce de couchage pénètre dans la pince entre les deux premiers rouleaux doseurs; en faisant varier la pression des rouleaux, on peut doser la quantité de sauce transférée dans la pince.
