The... ice laboratory is a versatile ice modelling facility which has been used to study numerous ice related problems. The staff has developed international recognition for their work in modelling ice and ice problems. The temperature inside the chamber can be varied down to-20°C. It houses a concrete tank which is 21 m long by 7 m wide by 1. 1 m deep. Ice up to 0. 6 m thick can be grown in this tank. The ice tank is used for many types of studies, including model tests of ice-structure interaction using model ice. The tank can accommodate a wave machine, producing a wave climate in different ice regimes. Le laboratoire du [...] est pourvu d'une chambre froide pour la modélisation de la glace. Cette installation versatile a déjà été utilisée pour l'étude de nombreux problèmes liés à la glace. Le personnel [...] s'est acquis une réputation internationale pour ses travaux de modélisation de la glace et de résolution de problèmes liés à la glace. La température à l'intérieur de la chambre froide peut être abaissée jusqu'à -20 °C. Un bassin en béton de 21 m de longueur, 7 m de largeur et 1,1 m de profondeur y est installé. Une couche de glace d'une épaisseur de 0,6 m peut être réalisée dans ce bassin. Le bassin à glace peut être utilisé pour une vaste gamme d'études, notamment la modélisation de l'interaction entre la glace et les ouvrages à l'aide de glace reproduite à l'échelle. Le bassin peut loger une machine à vagues produisant un climat de vagues sous différents régimes de glace. RISC-reduced instruction set computer. The microprocessor, the VLSI chip that serves as the "brain" of a computer, performs all the arithmetic and logical operations within the machine. Microprocessors have become progressively more complex and more powerful, and include a richer, more versatile set of instructions. But noticing that "average" programs spend 90 per cent of their time executing about 10 per cent of the simpler instructions, some designers have taken a reverse track. Attempting to increase speed, they designed ;large, powerful microprocessors which perform only the simpler, faster instructions.
