RADARSAT-2, Canada's next generation earth observation satellite, is co-funded by the Canadian Space Agency(CSA) and MacDonald Dettwiler... The imaging sensor on the satellite is a C-band Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR) capable of operating in a wide variety of imaging modes. All imaging modes of the current RADARSAT-1 satellite will be provided, as well as some new modes that incorporate important innovations and improvements. The horizontal co-polarization(HH) of RADARSAT-1 will be supplemented by options for vertical co-polarization(VV) and cross-polarization(HV or VH), and there will be new Quad-Polarization modes providing fully polarimetric data sets. The other major new mode is referred to as Ultra-Fine, providing swath imaging with resolution of about 3 m in each dimension. Re-visit times will be reduced since all imaging modes will be available either to the left or right sides of the satellite track.

Les principales caractéristiques d'un capteur-imageur sont : - le champ d'observation total (de quelques dizaines à quelques millions de km) [;] - la résolution spatiale (qui exprime son aptitude à distinguer les détails dans le champ total d'observation) [;] - les bandes spectrales (domaines de sensibilité spectrale des détecteurs et de leurs accessoires (filtres...] [;] - la résolution radiométrique (qui caractérise l'aptitude des détecteurs à distinguer des signaux porteurs de plus ou moins d'énergie).

Pore size distribution. There are basically three different techniques for measuring the pore size of geotextiles. Initially, when all geotextiles were woven, the pore size was measured by using a calibrated microscope. In the case of rectangular pores, the size of the pore is taken as the smaller dimension. The third dimension(depth) is used to improve the appearance of the chart and thus to draw more attention to the chart(...). Even though three dimensions are used, only two variables are plotted, one along the vertical axis and the other along the horizontal axis.

OBS

The term "three-dimensional chart" implies that the third dimension represents a third variable as in the stereogram or volume chart. Very often though, a chart is given a third dimension only to make it more attractive to the reader. It has no quantitative value. This type of three-dimensional chart is often distorted and misleading.
