A gyrocompass can take a number of different forms, all of them making use of the principle of the gyroscope and the pendulum. The instruments have to be mounted so as to isolate them from the rolling, pitching, and other motions of the ships [or vehicles] on which they are placed. They also incorporate "damping" features to control the motion of the gyroscope as it responds to the earth’s gravity.

Uses a patented vibratory conveyor and orbital motion to remove the stems from tart cherries. The fruit is carried to the destemmer on a textured conveyor belt that is being oscillated, rotating the cherry stems to an upright position. A high-speed rotating blade with a dull edge hits the stems and pulls them out.
