[A] 360-degree video can provide viewers an immersed experience. For example, [a] 360-degree video can provide a viewer with a virtual reality experience, putting the viewer in a virtually different time and/or place. As another example, [a] 360-degree video can provide a viewer with a first-person view of video content captured by a remote device(e. g., an unmanned aerial vehicle, or other device). One method for capturing [a] 360-degree video is to use an omnidirectional camera. Omnidirectional cameras can capture a wide field of view with just a few lenses. The resulting images exhibit a fisheye effect.

A user experiences a 360° video by rotating the camera about the center as well as in effect rotating the perspective or FOV [field-of-view] while viewing the video. According to an embodiment of the … invention, the camera, or view, is changed based on user input such as by using a mouse, keyboard, mobile device, controller, head-mounted display, or virtual reality headset. In this way, the end user adjusts the view manually or directly. Camera, or view orientation changes provide meaningful insight into how a user experiences a 360° video.

The FS-4 and FS-4 Pro are portable DTE (Direct To Edit) disk recorders for use with hand-held DV (Digital Video) camcorders. Both FS-4 models feature an internal disk drive, portable enclosure and a host of record, playback and control features. When in use the device is connected to a camcorder via a FireWire cable and the output of the camera is recorded onto the disk drive. When recording is completed, the device is then connected to a personal computer via a FireWire cable and the data on the disk can be accessed and edited.

DTE combines the steps of acquisition(recording of the video imagery) and capturing(conversion of the data to a format that can be stored on disk). In effect, DTE eliminates the task of capturing files before editing them, bypassing the need for recording tape and reducing the overall amount of hardware used and time required for processing. DTE has been called tapeless DV recording technology.

Le CD-I fait appel à des techniques très sophistiquées de compression d'images pour pouvoir stocker des images animées, très consommatrices d'espace. L'algorithme de compression est baptisé «Full Motion Video» (FMV). C'est la mise au point de cet algorithme qui a permis au CD-I de pouvoir afficher jusqu'à 72 minutes d'images animées plein écran. La qualité de l'image ainsi traitée est équivalente à celle d'un magnétoscope VHS mais inférieure à celle d'un LaserDisc.

[Video digitizing cards] All the cards do have a capacity for controlled capture : The card captures a frame; the source device advances to the next frame, which is then digitized; and so on. This type of capturing requires not only a special capture application but also a video-source device with a serial port through which it can be controlled. The advantage of controlled capture is that cards that cannot capture 30 fps in real time, even at 160 X 120 pixels, can capture 30 fps at much larger window sizes with controlled capture, because the card can take as much time as it needs to digitize each frame before moving to the next.
