VIEWING FIELD [12 fiches]

Fiche 1 2026-03-25

Anglais

Subject field(s)
  • Surgical Instruments
  • Eye Surgery
CONT

Macular surgery often requires high image resolution than is provided by the [wide-angle viewing systems]. In such a scenario, a macular lens is preferred to increase the magnification of the posterior pole for more delicate and precise surgical maneuvers, such as internal limiting membrane(ILM) and ERM [epiretinal membrane] dissection. These lenses provide a much smaller field of view, limiting their use to primarily posterior pole surgery. The view provided through these lenses is direct, thus inversion is not necessary. Most are contact lenses and require either a coupling agent or a handheld irrigation system... Lenses come in disposable and nondisposable forms.

OBS

flat lens: ... a lens with minimal curvature across its surface.

OBS

macular lens: designation usually used in the plural.

Smart eyewear is defined as eyewear incorporating a near-to-eye display. As used herein, near-to-eye display means a display, device, or system, such as a retinal projector, virtual retinal display, visualization element, head-mounted display, heads-up display, or other near-to-eye system, typically worn on the head of a user that generates an image near the eye. In a smart eyewear configuration, a display device is often mounted adjacent to an edge of each of the wearer's eyes and an image is typically displayed in the center of each lens. The location of the displayed image, therefore, forces the wearer to gaze in a direction to view the image generated by the display. Typically positioned near the user's eye, the display is aligned to the central region of the user's field of view to allow review of the displayed information with little or no head movement. This enables the user to view the display while also viewing the area outside the central region and interacting with the surrounding environment. In another embodiment, the displayed image is aligned to a region other than the central region of the user's field of view.

CONT

Near-eye display devices are configured to present images to a user via a display that is positioned close to the user’s eyes. For example, a head-mounted augmented reality display device may be worn on a user’s head to position a near-eye display directly in front of a user’s eyes. A near-eye display may be at least partially see-through to allow a user to view a real-world background in combination with displayed virtual objects. This may allow virtual objects to be displayed such that the virtual objects appear to exist within the real-world environment.

CONT

The technology provides one or more embodiments of a near-eye display (NED) device system. An embodiment of a NED device system comprises a near-eye display device including a near-eye support structure and a near-eye display (NED) supported by the near-eye support structure and having a display field of view. The NED system further comprises an image generation unit supported by the near-eye support structure which outputs image data which is optically coupled to the near-eye display (NED).

OBS

CONT

Brightfield microscopy is the most elementary form of microscope illumination techniques... The name "brightfield" is derived from the fact that the specimen is dark and contrasted by the surrounding bright viewing field.... In brightfield microscopy a specimen is placed on the stage of the microscope and incandescent light from the microscope's light source is aimed at a lens beneath the specimen.... light passes through the specimen and then is collected by an objective lens situated in a turret above the stage.... This technique can be used to view fixed specimens or live cells. Since many organic specimens are transparent or opaque, staining is required to cause the contrast that allows them to be visible under the microscope.

The POLDER(Polarization and Directionality of the Earth's Reflectances) instrument will observe the polarization, directional and spectral characteristics of the solar light reflected by aerosols, clouds, oceans and land surfaces. POLDER is a push broom, wide field of view, multi-band imaging radiometer/polarimeter developed by CNES. Multi-angle viewing is achieved by the along-track migration at the spacecraft velocity of a quasi-square footprint intercepted by the total instantaneous 114-degree wide field of view. This footprint is partitioned into 242x274 elements of quasi-constant 7kmx6km resolution, imaged by a CCD matrix in the focal plane.

Similar Triangles. When viewing objects in the real world, the light rays from the objects within the viewer's field of view enter the eye radially rather than in parallel as in the orthographic projection. The eye is very small compared to the scene it is viewing, and the light rays are projected to the point(the eye) rather than a plane. The equations for the projection are derived using the "similar triangles" method, where the triangle formed by the viewer's eye, space z, and space point is similar to that formed by the eye, the screen distance from the viewer's eye, and the screen point.
