The method of creating colour by mixing various proportions of two or three distinct stimulus colours of light.

CONT

The distinguishing features of additive colour synthesis are that it deals with the colour effects of light rather than with pigments, dyes, or filters, and that the stimuli come from separate monochromatic sources.

The most common example of additive colour synthesis is the colour television screen,(or RGB monitor), which is a mosaic of red, green, and blue phosphor dots; at normal viewing distances the eye does not distinguish the dots, but blends or adds their stimulus effects to obtain a composite colour effect.

Twin lens reflex cameras have two lenses... The upper or "viewing" lens reflects off a fixed mirror and forms an image on a ground glass screen on top of the camera. The lower lens is the one which takes the photograph, and is fitted with a shutter and diaphragm. To use... look down onto the focusing screen to see what you are photographing. Turning the focusing knob moves both lenses backwards and forwards, so when your subject is sharply imaged on the ground glass the taking lens is also focused to give a sharp image on film.

The key to the single-lens reflex camera is a mirror. Light coming in through the camera lens is reflected upward by this mirror to a viewing screen, then through a five-sided prism that turns the inverted image right-side up and right-side round and delivers it to the eye. When a picture is taken, the mirror snaps up momentarily... permitting light to strike the film at the back of the camera. Through-the-lens viewing produces an image virtually identical with that produced on the film.

The number space may be equivalent to the dynamic range and/or viewing area. If the number space is greater than the CRT screen, the beam is scissored at the CRT edges. Wrap around usually occurs at the four edges of the number area.
