The Native Education Centre(NEC) opened its doors in 1967 and became British Columbia's largest private Aboriginal College. Our focus is to meet the needs of Aboriginal adult students requiring developmental, vocational, and applied academic programs to access employment or further post-secondary education. The Native Education Centre is proud to be governed by the Urban Native Indian Education Society(UNIES), a registered charitable organization. The Native Education Centre offers a learning environment that is culturally rich with small classes that are taught in a traditional longhouse. The Canada Pension Plan National Vocational Rehabilitation Project(NVRP) is a five-year project providing quality rehabilitation services to Canada Pension Plan clients wishing to return to the workforce. Payments for the costs of assessments, counselling, training and other rehabilitation expenses, such as tuition and books are administered by the NVRP.
